The display which is wrapped around the right-hand side. The Galaxy Note Edge is, in almost every respect, a Note 4. Almost all of the hardware and software enhancements in Note 4 are present and accounted for in the Edge. The primary difference, obviously, is the 5.6-inch Quad HD+ bent display (the plus in Quad HD+ refers to the 160 rows of extra pixels used on the side display), and any variance in hardware here is to account for the phone s unique design: Its 3.8mm wider and 2.2mm shorter than the Note 4, and comes with a smaller 3,000mAh battery.

Note Edge Review

I do not do reviews to often but I felt like I should for this one since some people are so iffy about the design of the phone. First let me say that before getting this phone I was deciding between this, the nexus 6, and iphone 6 plus. I am not biased when it comes to phones and I have previously owned an iphone 4s and iphone 5. The Iphone 6 plus was eliminated for me due to the fact that I have an iphone 6 as a work phone and I really just don't like it so apple products or not for me personally. I settled on the edge after deciding that samsung makes better use of the screen real estate with the ability to have multiple apps open at the same time as well as the added s-pen functionality. With that said I will mainly address the edge screen first. Some may see it as gimmicky but I personally found some use for it. I use for my current stock info as well as sports scores and to display my incoming messages. I know that is not a whole lot of use but it is good enough for me for now. I have yet to have an accidental tap on the edge screen so it seems like samsung has done a pretty good job with the phones ability to distinguish an actual tap over a graze from your palm. The touchwiz interface isn't that bad in my opinion but it does show a slight lag here and there depending on what you are doing. It is very minimal lag so nowhere near a deal breaker for me. the battery life could be a little better but that was a sacrifice made for the edge screen however, with moderate usage you could easily get through a whole day or more and heavy usage isn't that bad either. The rapid charging is great and an excellent way to make up for the battery life. All in all I'd recommend this phone to anyone but it will be extremely difficult to find. I went through 5 stores before finding one, and the one I got was the last one at the store I got it from. If you are not to impressed with the edge screen then go for the note 4.

Left the Iphone and the grip of Apple/itunes. Had 4 prior Iphone and was losing faith after each generation. This Note Edge from Samsung is light years ahead of my Iphone! Sold my Iphone 6 on Ebay after only one week using the edge. Tremendous display and speed. Use many apps from my itunes world and they all work faster with stunning graphics! Anyone thinking of making the switch, don't hesitate! Samsung has made an outstanding product.

Bad to the Bone

Well everyone knows it has the fastest processor, best graffics, best resolution & the most unique features (ie Edge) works flawlessly & doesn't take very long @ all to get use too, coming from a Note 3. The new operating system is very unique & updated UI is better than ever. Also one can activate the 180° screen reversal, so the Edge will b on left side for lefties, kool.
Even with USB 2.0, charging is almost as fast as my Note 3, with USB 3 charging. Mainly for me anyway, it's taking a little while to decide where to put what. I've always use folders to group things together, ie, phone, finance, trucks, game apps etc. Now with the Edge apps, not as many folders are required. Anyway for $100 diff, I would not hesitate to get Note Edge, which I didn't & am really impressed with unit. Don't hesitate very long, supplies are limited & they WILL NOT b avail after Dec. 31st.
Thx,
FreddieBoy

Tips & Tricks:-

Delete all contacts

There are a number of ways, as below. The first two of these may be disabled on some networks/carriers or Android versions however.

1) Go to Settings - More - Application Manager. Then swipe from right to left until you are on the All screen (at the top). Then scroll down to Contacts Storage - Clear Data.

2) Go to Contacts. Then press Menu - Delete. Then press Select all (at the top) and then Delete again.

3) Go to Settings - Accounts and sync. Then untick Background data and Auto-sync. Then go to Gmail (or an account that your phone syncs with) and delete all of your Contacts from there. Then re-sync your phone.

4) Download an App called 'Delete All Contacts' and use that as a last resort.

The methods above will delete contacts from the phone only, not the SIM card.

There are a couple of ways to bring up one of your contacts.

First, while in your Contacts App, simply start typing in the search bar at the top of the screen.

Or else a quicker method is to use the Google Search widget (installed by long pressing on a vacant part of your homescreen and installing the widget) and start typing the name of the contact you want to dial. This will quickly filter the correct contact.

Type a word that is not in the dictionary. The word will show up in the suggestion box to the left. Long press on the word and it will save to the dictionary.

Sometimes you will want to prevent your device fro, displaying or indexing folders on your Phone storage or USB storage.

To do this, simply rename the folder and place a . (full top / period) before the file or folder name.

This can be done through the Files App or by plugging your device in to your computer and renaming it there.

When browsing on your phone you may notice images are quite blurry. This is because your telecom provider is compressing the images before they are downloaded on to your phone.

There is no way to prevent this, but if you have a WiFi connection nearby, then you can turn that on. This will mean that all browser downloads come through the WiFi connection, rather than the carrier, and your images will appear normally.

When using your Calendar App, you will normally be in Month view. To quickly switch to Year view, you can pinch the screen to zoom out.

This is useful if you want to quickly jump backwards or forwards through a few months at a time.

To go from Year to Month, you can do a reverse pinch.

If you find yourself woken up by notifications, text messages or incoming calls, then there is a handy feature called Blocking mode.

To enable this go to Settings - My device - Blocking mode.

From here you can set a From and To time in which to block these notifications.

You can also allow notifications through from certain contacts that you don't mind bothering you.

If you are running low on phone memory, you can look for your largest applications to uninstall.

Go to Settings - More - Application manager. Then swipe from right to left and select Running.

From here you can see which applications are taking up the most memory and close them.

To lock your screen while you are watching videos, simply press the power button.

This will disable the touchscreen buttons while the video is playing, but it won't turn the screen off like the lock key normally does.

Note, this will only work on video files that you are playing that are stored on your phone. It won't work for videos played within websites, such as YouTube videos.

Android now comes with a sound Equaliser so you can adjust your bass and treble.

Simply open a music file using the Music Player App. Then go to Settings - SoundAlive and select Custom.

Then simply drag the sliders up and down to adjust the bass and treble

Android has an interesting new feature called Talkback which is designed for blind and low vision users.

The feature is an interesting way to navigate your phone however.

Simply go to Settings - My devices - Accessibility - Talkback to activate it.

Then your phone will give you an ongoing narration of its various functions.

Sometimes you may need your screen to stay on when plugged in via USB.

To do this, go to your Home Screen and press the menu key (bottom right). Select Settings - More - Developer Options. Then check Stay Awake.

Face Unlock allows you to unlock your phone by holding it up to your face. It is highly recommended to use the Improve Face Unlock feature to make the recognition faster and more accurate.

First, ensure you have Face Unlock enabled by going to Settings - My device - Lock screen - Screen lock and chose Face Unlock.

Once that is done go to Settings - My device - Lock screen - Improve facial recognition. You might have to do this a few times to improve the speed of recognition. It is also a good idea to position the phone at different angles to your head to improve the accuracy.

If you are browsing YouTube videos on your phone and they appear blurry, then this is usually because of your connection speed.

If you are using 3G / 4G and you're in an area of low signal strength, then YouTube will sometimes automatically reduce the quality of the video. Unfortunately this can make the video very pixelated and of poor quality.

If you are using the standard Android browser, then when the video is in full screen, press the back button. Then press HQ and start playing it again.

If you are using another browser, then press the Settings icon on the bottom right of the YouTube video. Then change the quality.

This may improve the quality, but it may also lead to buffering issues.

Another solution is to use a WiFi connection, if one is available.

If you are not happy with your notification light, then you can change and tweak it. Go to the Play Store and download an App called Lightflow.

You might need to enable the notification light before the App works. Go to Settings - My device - LED Indicator and tick Notifications.

If you want to type non-English letters (e.g. those with an accent), long-press on the relevant letter. A list of options will appear for you to select. For example, to insert an acute á, then press and hold the a key, then drag your finger to the accented character.

If you want to check how much RAM you have available, go to Settings - More - Application Manager. Then swipe from right to left so you see the Running Apps. At the bottom it should say how much is used and how much is free.

Instead of the simple swipe gesture to unlock your phone, you can set a custom one which can be extremely difficult for a thief to guess.

From your homescreen, go to Settings - My device - Lock screen - Screen lock and choose Pattern.

It is also a good idea to untick Use visible pattern. Then if someone is watching over your shoulder while you entering your pattern, it will be harder for them to remember the pattern.

If you have forgotten your unlock pattern, then after 5 unsuccessful tries a button will appear saying 'Forgot pattern'. Press this and you will be asked to enter your Gmail username/password. The phone will then ask for a new unlock pattern. If you don't have a Gmail account, then you will have to either call your carrier or factory reset your phone.

If you want to remove the Google Search bar, then go to Settings - More - Application manager.

Then swipe from right to left so you are on the All screen. Scroll to Google search and press Disable.

A great new feature is dual shot which lets you take a picture of someone else with the rear camera, while simultaneously taking a picture of yourself with the front facing camera. The problem is this feature isn't obvious to find as it isn't included in the list of camera Modes.

To find it open your Camera App and you will see three icons in the top right corner. Dual shot is the middle icon of these. Press that and you both cameras will activate allowing you to shoot away.

To see notifications on your Lock screen, the best option is to download an App called NoLed from the Play Store. This will show notifications such as text messages, emails and missed calls as bright icons on your homescreen.

You can choose between very small squares or small icons and these can assigned by coloured.

If you would prefer to correct your own mistakes, then go to Settings - My device - Language and input.

Then select the keyboard you are using and press the Settings icon again.

You should be able to find a predictive text option on this screen.
